We asked Val, one of the dancers (and photographers of these great photos), what inspires him to take the photos and what makes a great ballroom dance photo.
Here’s what he said:
“I’ve always been interested in photography, I took my first pictures when I was 5 or 6 running around the zoo. My family always took slides of vacations, those first color slides. I really just always liked to take pictures, I like the memories. Especially now with the digital cameras, you can do so much more with a photo.”
“You want the picture to be different. I tend to look at something that’s more action that I can capture. Composition and balance are the key, and capturing something unique in the dance, some kind of spectacular pose.”
