On April 14th, 2103 Arthur Murray Dance Centers of Long Island hosted a Spring Dance Showcase and Masquerade Awards Ball at the Melville Marriott Hotel. Students from 7 Arthur Murray Dance Dance centers including Commack, Manhattan, Merrick, Saratoga Springs, Williston Park , Bay Shore & Plainview. Event officials included World Cup Professional Latin Rising Star Champion, Ms. Irina Boubnovskia, and Master of Ceremonies Mr. Safwat Gerges.

The day session began with Smooth Freestyle rounds and Smooth Solo exhibitions followed by Rhythm Freestyle rounds and Rhythm Solo exhibitions. Students participated in over 150 heats of dancing, showcasing everything from the dramatic Argentine Tangos and beautiful Waltzes to energy filled Cha Chas and Salsas.

The day session ended with a “Jack and Jill” dance competition for charity. Students were able to purchase a dance heat in either Waltz or Cha Cha with an instructor they don’t usually take lessons with. It was so much fun for Arthur Murray students to experience lead and follow with another instructor. The highlight of the day was when the announcer surprised the audience by auctioning off a dance with Arthur Murray Dance Centers owner, Mr. Safwat Gerges.

Arthur Murray students raised $2,200 for the Pediatric Cancer Center at Winthrop Hospital. The children at the Pediatric Cancer Center at Winthrop Hospital will be able to enjoy a day of fun and entertainment thanks to the generosity of our students. Thank you!

The evening continued with our Masquerade Ball. Students and staff proceeded in from the cocktail hour to the ballroom to the song Masquerade from The Phantom of the Opera. The evening included a wonderful dinner, lots of dancing with all the students and staff, and awards. Every student that danced in a heat earlier in the day was awarded a certificate of participation. Students who completed a level in their dancing were awarded a certificate as part of the Arthur Murray Medal Ball Ceremony. We want to congratulate all of our students that graduated to the next level of their dancing.

Before the night was over we had an encore performance of the award winning “Gangham Style” Cha Cha by Flo Baumoel and her instructors Pavel and Adam. The evening ended with a wonderful professional show. We want to thank everyone for coming and participating ,whether as a spectator or competitor.
